LITTLE ROCK, AR - Below freezing temperatures get the blame for a water main break that created icy conditions at one of the city's heavily-traveled intersections on Monday morning.
It happened around 8:00 at Markham St. and Rodney Parham Rd.
Due to temperatures in the teens, the leaking water quickly froze and slickened the street, slowing rush hour traffic through the area.
Central Arkansas Water (CAW) says repairs to the 6-inch cast iron main will take 4 to 6 hours. They expect all to be back to normal by 4:00 this afternoon.
CAW says the main was likely cracked by the frigid temperatures.
