Update: Top Bidder for Millionth Duck Call of the Year Drops Out, New Auction Set

New eBay auction runs Nov. 27 to Dec. 7.
WEST MONROE, LA (KTVE/KARD) - Representatives with Duck Commander of Duck Dynasty fame have confirmed that the top bidder for Phil Robertson's one-millionth duck call of the year has dropped out of their payment.

The call, signed by Robertson, was first made at the beginning of November and at the end of the call's eBay auction, it was sold for $80,100.

That money was to go to the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Association (NELVA), which helps put on hunts for wounded veterans and is putting together a homeless veterans shelter in Bastrop.

Duck Commander representatives also say the second-highest bidder is not responding to their requests for payment.

They say a new auction will now take place for the one-millionth duck call to continue trying to raise funds for the NELVA.

Duck Commander reps said that new auction will take place on eBay and will run 10 days, from 1 p.m. CST on Nov. 27 to 1 p.m. CST on Dec. 7.

Duck Commander released the following statement on what happened:

"This call was indeed up for sale before but the transaction was not completed. However, due to the attention the initial sale received and our desire to benefit the Northeast Louisiana Veteran's Association, we decided to re-list this item," the organization said.

"For PTSD, therapy is time with others, camaraderie and activity that is on their own," says NELVA Board Member John Nolan. "Every two hours in the deer stand, you can literally see a little bit higher step whenever they come back."

Nolan said these hunts not only benefit the veterans but also the community.

"When the general public can see that good happening in front of them, that's where their money went, perfect," he says.

To prevent any problems with the new auction, Duck Commander says it's partnering with the 3rd-party auction management agency, KOMPOLT.

"Anyone can really go in and just start bidding and you want to make sure that the people who are bidding really want it and they just aren't messing with the auction just to drive up a price," says Geri Wilhelm, KOMPOLT Vice President.

KOMPOLT will handle auction management and pre-qualifying bidders.

“We have a bidder pre-qualification system in place that requires personal interaction from the bidders to make sure they are serious about the purchase, and in some cases, requires financial records to make sure they can afford the item,” Wilhelm explains.

The new eBay auction opens at 10 a.m. today, search for "Autographed 1,000,000th Duck Commander Call 2013" or item #171177691215 to find the listing.
