UPDATE: Man Shot by Deputy in Early Morning Confrontation in Hot Spring County

An update to an officer involved shooting in Hot Spring County this weekend.

Authorities have identified the armed man they say was threatening to shoot deputies outside a store in Lono.

It happened just after midnight Sunday (6/9) morning. Deputies say David Alexander repeatedly refused to put down his gun and pointed it at officers. That's when Hot Spring County Sheriff Ed Hollingsworth fired his shotgun at Alexander, hitting him once.

Alexander is stable at a Garland County hospital.

State Police are investigating.

LONO, AR- A man has been shot in Hot Spring County after allegedly pointing a shotgun at a Sheriff's Deputy.

Shortly after 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning,  the Hot Spring County Sheriff's Office received a call of a disturbed subject with a gun.

The man allegedly threatened to kill officers and others at the Country Corner Store in Lono.

Deputies say the subject raised a shotgun towards one of the officers.

The man was shot by a deputy.

The injured man has been taken to a hospital in Hot Springs where he is reported to be in stable condition.
