Triple Shooting in Pine Bluff Happens on Eve of 'Justice Sunday'

Police here are asking for help from the public as they look to solve a triple shooting Saturday evening that left one dead and another two in the hospital.
PINE BLUFF, AR -- Police here are asking for help from the public as they look to solve a triple shooting that left one dead and another two in the hospital.

So far, no arrests have been made in the outbreak of violence that happened the day before local pastors were set to speak with their congregations about how violence impacts the community.

"It is another sad situation here," said local pastor Jesse Turner.

The intersection of 17th and Beech was eerily quite Sunday considering the violence police say took place here the evening before.

It was 6:45pm Saturday when police were called.  Residents in the area say they heard about ten gun shots ring out.

Police arrived to find two men and a woman shot.  All were taken to the Jefferson Regional Medical Center where one of the men died.  The other man was listed in critical condition while the woman was said to be stable.

"We wanted every pastor in the city to say something about violence on this Sunday, and it just so happened this happened last night," Turner said.

Turner is part of a group of clergymen who work to steer youth away from crime.

He says the message delivered in churches across the city on what was dubbed "Justice Sunday" became even more pertinent after the shooting.

"I would encourage residents to get more involved, say what you heard say, what you saw," Turner said.

That's a message echoed by the Pine Bluff Police Department where investigators are looking for the person or persons responsible for this crime.

Police have not released the names or ages of the victims until their families can be notified.
