PIKE COUNTY, AR - Three Southwest Arkansas communities will come together tonight to honor a high school student athlete who died last week.

Ryan Swain, 17, of Amity, a senior starter for the Centerpoint High School (CHS) Knights, drowned last Saturday while dove hunting with friends.

At a CHS pep rally today, students will be issued a stick-on Knights helmet with the number 55 on it. This will be worn in Ryan's honor for the pep rally and for tonight's game against Magnet Cove.

Also during tonight's football game at CHS's Rosboro Stadium, Ryan's #55 will be stamped on the field alongside the Knights logo. The crowd will also be wearing special jerseys with Ryan's #55, in honor of him. Neighboring schools Caddo Hills and Kirby are also taking part in the tribute.

There will be a large scroll attached to the home side fence for patrons and fans to sign, give well wishes or condolences, or share a memory about Ryan.

Fans will be given memorial balloons to be released at the end of the student prayer, immediately preceding the game.

The entire community is invited to take part.

Earlier this week on Facebook, dozens of Ryan's classmates changed their profile pictures to an image of #55 with a halo above it.

Swain was laid to rest in funeral services on Tuesday.

Ryan played football and baseball and was also vice-president of FFA (Future Farmers of America). He was an avid hunter and fisherman and had planned to enroll at Southern Arkansas University and become a wildlife officer with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
