Ticket Sales Start August 12 for WICKED in Little Rock

Broadway's biggest blockbuster returns to Robinson Center Music Hall September 25-October 6.
LITTLE ROCK, AR (News Release) - After breaking box office records and selling out in record time in 2010, WICKED, Broadway’s biggest blockbuster, will return to Little Rock’s Robinson Center Music Hall September 25th-October 6th. Tickets for the return engagement go on sale Monday, August 12th at 9 a.m.

“We are thrilled to welcome the return of WICKED to Robinson Center Music Hall this fall. What a great way to start off our 30th Anniversary Broadway Season!” said Celebrity Attractions Chief Executive Officer, Ed. L. Payton. “To say WICKED is returning to Arkansas by ‘popular’ demand is an understatement - and after seeing how quickly tickets flew out of the box office for our last Little Rock engagement, I am sure the two week run this fall will be the hottest ticket in town.”

With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Pippin, Academy Award®-winner for Pocahontas and The Prince of Egypt) and book by Winnie Holzman (“My So Called Life,” “Once And Again” and “thirtysomething”), WICKED, the untold story of the witches of Oz, is directed by two-time Tony® Award winner Joe Mantello and features musical staging by Tony® Award winner Wayne Cilento (Aida, The Who’s Tommy, How To Succeed…).

Based on the best-selling 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire, WICKED, winner of 35 major awards, including a Grammy® and three Tony® Awards, is the untold story of the witches of Oz. It is produced by Marc Platt, Universal Pictures, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone.

Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the Land of Oz. One – born with emerald-green skin – is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. WICKED tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, and how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.

WICKED has “cast quite a spell” (Washington Post) throughout North America, breaking box office records in every city that it has played, including Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington, DC, Philadelphia and Boston to name a few. WICKED has been declared “A Cultural Phenomenon” by Variety and “The Best Musical of the Decade” by Entertainment Weekly. There are currently 7 productions worldwide: New York, London, Holland, Japan, Australia/New Zealand, and two concurrent North American Tours. Globally, WICKED has amassed over $2.9 billion in ticket sales and has been seen by 36 million people worldwide in its 9-year history.

The performance schedule is as follows: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday Evenings at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday Evenings at 8:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday Matinees at 2:00 p.m. There is also a special Matinee performance on Thursday, September 26th at 2:00 p.m. Prices start at $43.

When tickets go on sale, they can be purchased by phone at (501) 244-8800 or 800-982-ARTS (2787), in person at Celebrity Attractions and all Ticketmaster outlets, or online at Ticketmaster.com. Groups of 15 or more may call (501) 492-3311 to receive a discount. VIP tickets are also available for select performances.

WICKED kicks off the Celebrity Attractions’ 2013-2014 Broadway Season in Little Rock, which also includes Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, HELLO, DOLLY! starring Sally Struthers and HAIR.
