POPE COUNTY, AR - A teenaged boy is now safe after getting lost while out hunting.
It happened Thursday in Pope County in the area of Old Hwy 7 and Moccasin Spur.
The Pope County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) says the 15-year-old had been hunting with his father before he disappeared shortly before 4 p.m.
The PCSO, Pope County OEM Search and Rescue, Arkansas State Police (ASP), ASP helicopter, Arkansas Alliance of Bloodhound Search Specialists, and other volunteers responded to the area to search for the lost boy.
He was found around 9:15 p.m. by the ASP helicopter near the same area. He was not injured.
“I would like to pass along my sincere appreciation to the Crow Mountain Fire Department for supplying drinks to the authorities and volunteers, as well as Randy and Missy Ellis and Whattaburger for bringing food to the scene. This was a team effort and was successful because multiple agencies came together and worked hard searching for the young man. Thank you to all who were involved,” said Pope County Sheriff Aaron DuVall.
