Supplies Dwindling at Texarkana Food Bank

Officials say food donations disappear as quickly as they come in.
TEXARKANA, AR -- In Miller County, the Texarkana Food Bank is running low on supplies.

"Harvest Texarkana" helps feed families in southwest Arkansas and northwest Texas, but this year, demand for goodies has been very high.

Officials say food donations disappear as quickly as they come in, and now they're asking for the public's help to make sure everyone has a meal this holiday season.

"Canned goods, pasta dinners, those are things that are really staple items for us during the winter months, any financial or any kind of help will be absolutely making a difference," Executive Director Camille Parker says.

On average, Harvest Texarkana distributes about 175,000 pounds of food, but so far in November, almost 230,000 pounds have been given out to those in need.
