Sherwood Nonprofit Helping Bring Clean Water to Philippines

The filtration system can't work without buckets, of which two are necessary to complete the task.
SHERWOOD, AR -- A local nonprofit needs your buckets to get clean water to people in the Philipinnes after the Typhoon Haiyan.

Water Wishers ships filtration systems to people in need in other countries, and while they are ready to ship those systems to the Philipinnes, a very important part is missing: five-gallon plastic buckets.

The filtration system can't work without the buckets, of which two are necessary to complete the task.

"So what the family does is they take the dirty water from the stream or wherever, it filters through the system and the clean water comes out of the bottom, so at this point we still need 15,000 buckets," says Water Wishers board member Robin Gann.

The buckets don't have to be new, as long as they are clean, have lids and no chemicals in them.

You can drop off buckets to Ameriprise on Corporate Hill Drive, EGP on Main Street in North Little Rock and Victory Baptist Church in Sherwood.

The deadline is Dec. 5.
