Saline County Sees Growth in Schools

County leaders credit growth of area to schools and easy access to the highway.

SALINE COUNTY, AR -- School enrollment numbers show a spike in student population inside Saline County classrooms.

All four school districts in Saline County  -- Bauxite, Benton, Bryant, and Harmony Grove -- are seeing more students over last year.

County leaders said they use the top-rated schools as a plug to get jobs to locate to the area.

They also boast on the easy access to the interstate and the close proximity to Little Rock and Hot Springs to reel in jobs.

"We've got a lot of things to sell. We've had some successes, especially with Saint-Gobain.  We're hoping for more, and we're out there everyday working to try to recruit industry to Saline County," said Shane Broadway, president of the Saline County Economic Development Corporation.

The Little Rock School District saw an increase, while North Little Rock and Pulaski County schools experienced a drop in enrollment.
