Return of Missing Boy a 'Dream' for Family

Five hours later, the bed was empty and a massive search for Quinn began.
SEBASTIAN COUNTY, AR -- Around 1 Thursday morning, 5-year-old Quinn Whitsitt's grandparents, who have custody of the boy, checked on him in bed, and he was sound asleep.

Five hours later, the bed was empty and a massive search for Quinn began.

By land, air and ground, law enforcement officers searched for the young boy.

It's a nightmare family members had a hard time explaining.

"I got a hold of my wife and she was bawling, and she told me Quinn, my nephew, he's missing," said Justin Rouse, Quinn's uncle.

Hours later, there was good news.

"I know it doesn't always turn out that way," Rouse said.

The little boy was found by FBI agents safe in New Mexico with his mother who lives there but does not have custody.

"He said we found him," Rouse said. "It was a huge sigh of relief. It just still feels like a dream."

The mother Rainy Whitsitt is charged with kidnapping and burglary for breaking into a home to take the boy.

Investigators are still trying to figure out why and how this happened, while family members are just relieved that Quinn is OK.

"This is a happy ending," Rouse said. "I can't wait to see him and just give him a hug."
