Pilgrim's Pride Closing Batesville Facility

Officials hope incentive package will encourage potential purchasing companies to retain maximum number of jobs.
BATESVILLE, AR -- A poultry processing facility in Batesville will be halting production in 60 days.

Larry Jones, Director of Independence County Economic Development, Inc. (ICED), says employees at Pilgrim's Pride have now officially been informed about the facility's closing.

Jones says they are working with the Arkansas Economic Development Commission (AEDC) and Ozark Mountain Poultry in Rogers, who has shown interest in purchasing the Batesville complex, to ensure the maximum number of jobs are retained.

ICED, along with the county judge and quorum court, have approved an incentive package that aims to encourage any purchasing company to continue operations and rehire the workers at the facility.
