ARKADELPHIA, AR -- A Henderson State football player who suffered a horrific leg injury last Saturday received a surprising phone call Thursday afternoon.

Officials at Henderson say wide receiver Robert Jordan picked up his phone to hear NFL legend Joe Theismann's voice on the other end.

Theismann enjoyed a successful 12 years in the National Football League before suffering a career-ending compound fracture to his leg during a Monday Night Football game in 1985.

Henderson officials say Jordan spoke to the former Redskins quarterback for almost 10 minutes.

Theismann told Jordan to stay positive and keep working hard.
