Melissa Schroeder is a general assignment reporter who joined us in April of 2013. The native Ohioan worked at several other stations across the country before making Little Rock her home. Melissa began in the broadcast business, behind the scenes, as a producer for stations in Dayton and Columbus, Ohio and San Diego, California.

She made the move, in front of the camera, as a multi-media journalist/anchor in 2007 at a small Christian cable station in Dalton, Georgia. From there, she moved to Corpus Christi, Texas as a multi-media journalist and weekend anchor for KRIS/KZTV. During her time as a reporter/anchor Melissa has earned a Community Broadcasters Award for 1st place in news programming and a Texas Associated Press Award for 1st place in general reporting.

Her most memorable story is when she reported about a young man paralyzed from an accident involving a drunk driver. Melissa followed the story from his time in the hospital to the conviction in the courtroom. She also did a memorable one-on-one interview with JR Martinez in 2008. He received burns to more than 34% of his body while serving in the Army in Iraq.

Besides journalism, Melissa is also very passionate about rescuing animals. She has four rescue "mutts" of her own, Ellie Belle, Rufus, Shadow and Olive. When she's not trying to keep up with a house full of dogs, Melissa enjoys spending time with her husband Brandon, reading novels, blogging and watching cheesy horror movies.

Melissa is always looking for story ideas and is dedicated to keeping the community educated about what's going on in Central Arkansas.
