Man Charged with 19 Felony Counts of Forgery

Suspect accused of stealing personal checks and using them at local businesses.
BENTON, AR -- Detectives with the Benton Police Department (BPD) arrested a man suspected of stealing someone's personal checks and using them at local businesses.

According to BPD, officers responded to the theft and forgery call shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday on Robinette Street.

Detectives gathered evidence and obtained an arrest warrant for 27-year-old Paul Babbitt, Jr., who was taken into custody and charged with 19 felony counts of forgery and 19 misdemeanor counts of theft of property.

BPD says the investigation is ongoing and additional charges could be possible in the future.
