Man Charged in Connection to Accidental Shooting Death of Toddler

Police say 3-year-old Noah Chambers accidentally shot himself when he found a gun on the nightstand at his neighbors' house.
CABOT, AR -- A man has been arrested and charged in connection to the shooting death of a 3-year-old boy, who police say shot himself accidentally in July.

According to the Lonoke County Sheriff's Office (LCSO), 30-year-old Vance Colbert Gatlin surrendered to authorities around 9:30 Friday morning, where he was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and theft by receiving.

Investigators said in July, 3-year-old Noah Chambers went to his neighbors' house on Kerr Station Road, and followed the couple into their bedroom where he found a gun on the night stand.

He then picked up the gun and accidentally shot himself, according to investigators.

Gatlin is scheduled to appear at the Lonoke District Court on Nov. 5.
