Man Accused of Opening Credit Lines in Names of Deceased

Suspect reportedly admitted to using website called "Smartcheck" to find names of deceased victims, then open a line of credit in their names.
SILOAM SPRINGS, AR-- A routine traffic stop turned into a felony arrest for a Siloam Springs man.

Benton County deputies pulled over William Hall Wednesday night, and after a search of his car, uncovered a ledger with dozens of names, social security numbers, blank checks, credit cards and bank statements.

Deputies say they later discovered that some of the credit cards are linked to a home invasion and car break-in in Siloam Springs.

Investigators say Hall later admitted he had used a website called "Smartcheck" to find the names of deceased victims, then open a line of credit in their names.

Hall is now being held for U.S. Marshals because of a federal parole violation stemming from previous drug charges.
