Kevin duck appeared before a Garland County judge Monday morning morning.
It's his first time before a judge since investigators had him brought to Arkansas from Colorado, where he'd been living.
Prosecutors believe Duck killed Dawna Natzke back in December 2011. They obtained cell phone records that show Duck to be near the area where volunteer searchers found Natzke's body two weeks after he reported her missing.
Duck's attorney hopes his client will get a bond reduction so they can begin working on the case.
"Because of some of the things they've said in the discovery, there may be a need for some expert witnesses. Obviously we need him out working to help pay for these expert witnesses," said Clay Janske, Duck's attorney.
Duck's bond hearing has been set for December 30.
The judge set his bond at $250,000.
