Two Brothers Shot to Death in Saline County

The men had been riding ATVs in a wooded area near their homes. Their bodies were found Sunday afternoon.
SALINE COUNTY, AR -- Two brothers were killed in Saline County Sunday afternoon.

Investigators continue looking into the double homicide in the Sardis community.

Investigators are trying to piece together a crime neighbors call shocking.

Deputies found the bodies of the two men in a wooded area just after 3:00 Sunday afternoon.

Witnesses say the two victims were driving ATV's when someone shot them to death.

The Saline County Sheriff's Office says the two brothers lived in the area.

He identified them as 49-year-old Donald Williams and 46-year-old Michael Williams.

Detectives arrested a man but declined to give us his name.

One witness, who didn't want to be identified, believes she saw the suspect running from the crime scene.

She said, "He jumped the fence and made a beeline. My dog wanted to attack him, my pit bull, but she didn't bite him. He didn't even look at her. His mind was set."

Sheriff Cleve Barfield believes they caught the only person involved in the deaths, but he wouldn't talk about how it happened or a possible motive.

The brothers bodies went to the State Crime Lab where autopsies will be performed to determine a cause of death.

The Saline County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the homicides and will likely release more information on Monday.
