LITTLE ROCK, AR -- GenWealth is hosting the “Intro to Investing" workshop on Thursday, October 17 at 7 PM. Topics include: Why invest? Retirement income, education costs, major purchases, health care. Stocks – higher risk/higher return potential, own part of a companyBonds – mainly for income, interest payments by bond issuer, issuer promises to repay principal, variety of risks, lower risks and returns than stocks. Cash – protect principal, treasury bills, Certificates of deposit (CDs), money market accounts. Mutual funds, start early and strategies for managing risk.
Arkansas ranks 49/50 in terms of financial literacy. This means that the average Arkansan has trouble understanding basic financial issues – such as balancing checkbooks, credit cards, etc. To combat this issue, a series of workshops will take place this fall to help educate Arkansans on all things financial. All workshops are free and open to the  public. Workshops will take place at the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service building at 2301 South University in Little Rock.
