HOT SPRINGS, AR- A long-time Christian tuition-based school in Hot Springs is having a change of heart.
It is opening its doors with a new name and will be tuition free.
Superintendent Bill Vining says because of the high poverty rate in Garland County, Hot
Springs Christian will now be called Hot Springs Community School.
"The school is designed the thinking for kids to be able to look at their world, connect with their world and in essence this changes the thinking of where they are and where they want to go," he says.
Vining says combine that plan with reading, writing and arithmetic and you have a winner.
The school at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church on Hobson Avenue is now full with 40 students.
The goal is to drum up financial support to get another building to add more than 100 students next school year.
