Hot Springs Police Investigate Suspicious Death of Elderly Man

The body of Freddie Cole, 73, was found inside his Manor Circle apartment on Friday.
HOT SPRINGS, AR -- Freddie Cole, 73, was found dead Friday (12/9) morning in his Hot Springs apartment.

His neighbors were shocked to hear something like this would happen to this person. One neighbor though is now left with the image of finding the man in a pool of blood.

"Ever since then I've been going through hell," Alfred Nickson said.

For three days, Nickson has coped with finding his elderly neighbor dead.

Monday, Cole's front door to his second-floor apartment was still sealed off with yellow police tape.

The sight of it has next door neighbor Virginia Morales scared for her safety. Just a door away from an apparent murder, with no answers as to what happened, Morales is no longer comfortable with the place she calls home.

"I'm frightened around here now," Morales said. "I can't sleep at night time, cause I'm scared. I don't like stuff like this, especially somebody I live next door to."

Hot Springs Police aren't releasing much information outside of it being a suspicious death that they're investigating as a homicide.

However, could an account from the man who found Cole first shed some light?

Nickson says the morning he found him, Cole's door was left cracked open.

After becoming suspicious Nickson, along with another man decided to check on their neighbor.

"He said you see anything?" Nickson replayed the scene. "I said I see some boots right there, laying right there. That was the body."
