Hooters in Fayetteville Closing

The last day of business will be August 27.
FAYETTEVILLE, AR (KNWA) - A local restaurant is closing its doors just three weeks after a customer was hit by two cars only moments after walking out the door.

Manager Mark Wells says the business will close on August 27 because of a "leasing issue."

Wells says the plan is to reopen in another location in the future, but that's about all he can say.

Calls to the Hooters corporate headquarters asking for more information have not yet been returned.

The closing follows the death of a man police say left the restaurant drunk and walked into traffic on August 1. Gilbert Flores, 34, died after being flown to a hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

According to investigators, Flores was crossing College Avenue when he was hit.

Police say they don't expect any charges to be filed in the case because Flores was considered at fault for not being in a crosswalk.
