Hogs QB Allen Questionable for Saturday's Game vs Rutgers

Head coach Bret Bielema said there is no structural damage to Allen's shoulder, but it is now a matter of how quickly he can heal.
FAYETTEVILLE, AR -- Arkansas quarterback Brandon Allen is questionable for the Rutgers game after injuring his shoulder against Southern Miss in the Razorbacks 24-3 win on Saturday.

Head coach Bret Bielema said there is no structural damage to Allen's shoulder, but it is now a matter of how quickly he can heal.

"I know it is a throwing arm issue and we are not going to put him in harms way," Bielema said.

Bielema also said he will not let the quarterbacks talk to the media this week, leaving speculation of Allen's status in the air.

If Allen is unable to go, transfer AJ Derby, who replaced Allen on Saturday, will get his first career start.

Rutgers has a quarterback situation of their own after starter Gary Nova left the Knights game against Eastern Michigan with a concussion on Saturday.

Stay tuned to the Razorback Nation as we continue to update the status of Brandon Allen and Rutgers quarterbacks for the game this Saturday at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN.
