Golf Course to Parking Lot: War Memorial Preps for Tailgaters

Tailgaters will begin game day bright and early Saturday, as the golf course-turned-parking lot opens at 6 a.m.
LITTLE ROCK, AR -- As the Bret Bielema era makes its Little Rock debut at War Memorial Stadium on Saturday, crews have been preparing the nearby golf course for the thousands of fans coming to tailgate and cheer on the Hogs.

It's no small project, as crews have spent weeks preparing the greens and fairways with cars and barbecue grills for the thousands of fans to enjoy food, beverages and games before the Razorbacks kick off against the Samford Bulldogs.

"There's nothing else in the world like it that I know of," says Tailgate Prep Crew member Mark Warford. "I mean, where else are you going to turn a golf course into a parking lot, have 50,000 screaming fans having a big time, and then come Sunday at noon, they'll be playing golf again on this thing?"

Now that all the hard preparation work has wrapped up, tailgaters will begin their game day bright and early Saturday morning, as the golf course-turned-parking lot opens at 6.
