Friday Prescribed Burn Prompts Smoke Alert for Pulaski, Faulkner Counties

Controlled fires at Camp Robinson will be set around 10 a.m. on five range complexes at the center of the post.
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Arkansas National Guard Environmental Office will conduct a prescribed burn over about 700 acres of land on Camp Robinson's Maneuver Training Center in north Pulaski County on Friday.

The burn will begin around 10 a.m. on five range complexes at the center of the post.

Although the burns pose no threat to the public, the smoke will be visible from areas in Runyon Acres, Cato, and North Pulaski County to the East of the post, and from areas in Mayflower and southern Faulkner County.

The intent of the burn is to reduce the amount of natural fuel on the ground in order to benefit wildlife and the surrounding communities with reduced risk of wildfires.

Periodic burns are conducted involving small, controllable areas on Camp Robinson. Post firefighters will monitor the activity, and adjacent fire departments are notified as a precaution to ensure public safety for areas neighboring the post.
