Former Teacher Found Guilty of Harassing Student

Pamela Nelson was arrested last year after a student at Benton County School of the Arts said she hit him.
BENTON COUNTY, AR (KNWA) - The verdict is in for a former Benton County teacher accused of hitting a student - guilty.

Prosecutors say Pamela Nelson was convicted of misdemeanor harassment Wednesday, but she was acquitted of third degree battery.

Nelson was arrested last year after a student said she hit him while she was a choir and keyboarding teacher at Benton County School of the Arts.

Nelson was fired from her job, but she has maintained her innocence.

According to the Benton County prosecutor, Nelson will not spend any time behind bars on the harassment conviction. Her sentence is to pay a $150 fine.
