First Assembly of God North Little Rock Providing School Supplies to Needy Children

First Assembly of God in NLR host a back to school drive to collect supplies for needy children.
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR -- The First Assembly of God, North Little Rock, Arkansas, pastored by Reverend Rod Loy, is giving away school supplies to needy children in Central Arkansas. USA Today recently reported that school supply costs are
up over 7% last year!  In these economically difficult times, every family is challenged.  For the economically disadvantaged, it’s even harder. Every child in Central Arkansas deserves a quality education. Having the right supplies and materials to start the year is part of that. We have great students and great teachers in Central Arkansas, we at First Assembly want them to have everything they need to start the year well,” said Pastor Loy. School supplies are being collected at First Assembly, North Little Rock to help meet this need. Already over 200 children have received school supplies through the program, but more children are waiting. Supplies are being creatively distributed through three groups: SOLO MOMS – Solo is a ministry to single moms led by Reta Russell. SOLO works with dozens of single mom’s providing help, counseling and mentoring. They recently held a carnival where school supplies were
the prizes. “It was a great way to help the families, while at the same time allowing the kids to have a good time,” said Reta.

AMISTAD– Amistad in a Hispanic outreach in North Little Rock.  Over the last few years, hundreds of Hispanic families have received both material and spiritual help through this group led by David and Cheryl Richards. Over 150 Hispanic children in the program need school supplies.

METRO WORSHIP CENTER – Metro Worship Center is located on 2914 S. Cumberland in Little Rock. Metro provides a weekly service and mentoring to students.  They also have a large program to assist the homeless. Jay Martin leads Metro Worship Center with dozens of volunteers each week.

Each of these groups is in desperate need of providing school supplies for children in Central Arkansas.

This is what the church should be doing. Finding the real needs of real people and helping meet them.  We want every child and every family in Central Arkansas to know that they matter to God and they matter to us,” said Pastor Rod Loy.
