CAMP ROBINSON, AR -- The first woman in charge of the Arkansas Army National Guard has now assumed command.
Brigadier General Patricia Anslow of North Little Rock took over in a ceremony Saturday afternoon.
Brigadier General Roger McClellan relinquished command, culminating a 36-year career in the military.
Patricia Anslow is a 1989 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and commissioned in the Corps of Engineers.
She has had a 24 year career with the military including two combat deployments to Iraq - first in the Gulf War and then as commander of the 875th Engineer Battalion of the Arkansas Army National Guard during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2006-2008.
Anslow was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General on June 22, 2012, and became the first female general officer of the Arkansas National Guard.
