Employers Prepare for Health Care Law Implementation

LITTLE ROCK, AR - It goes by many names.  The official title is the The Affordable Care Act but others dub it "Obamacare".  But all of them are talking about the federal health care law.

The law passed three years ago and was upheld as constitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2012, but many of the penalties that could effect employers kicks in January 1st.

The Hatcher Agency, an insurance underwriter in Little Rock, is preparing clients for the changes that are coming in 2014.

"That's when the penalties come into play if an employer isn't offering health care coverage to it's employees, or if an employee doesn't take the coverage or have coverage somewhere," Greg Hatcher says.

The Hatcher Agency plans to hold two more "lunch and learns" this week to prepare employers for the upcoming health care law changes.

"It's a free event of course," Hatcher says.  "But we're sold out."
