El Dorado Celebrates Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week is a national campaign to teach kids about the dangers of drugs, alcohol and tobacco use.
EL DORADO, AR -- This week, schools across South Arkansas are wearing red to help fight the war on drugs.

Red Ribbon Week is a national campaign to teach kids about the dangers of drugs, alcohol and tobacco use.

A celebration was held in El Dorado this week, featuring a parade and performances by high school students.

"This is a good reminder that there is hope, you see all these kids today who are a part of this event, so it's very important to get that ingrained in their head that drugs do hurt, they kill and they destroy families," says Chris Lutman with El Dorado Police.

Each year nearly 80 million people across the nation participate in the weeklong event.
