Winter Storm Warning Issued for Portion of Central Arkansas

The National Weather Service expects 3-5 inches of snow to fall Sunday across parts of Central Arkansas.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - The National Weather Service in Little Rock expects parts of Central Arkansas to receive 3-5 inches of snow on Sunday.

The NWS has issued a Winter Storm Warning for a section of north central Arkansas that includes Russellville and a Winter Storm Advisory that now includes Little Rock.

The Winter Storm Warning begins continues through midnight for an area that includes Booneville, Clarksville, Jasper, Paris, Russellville and Western Grove. Meteorologists are predicting 3-5 inches of snow for that area with higher totals in higher elevations.

The Winter Weather Advisory runs the same time and includes Batesville, Beebe, Conway, Mountain Home, Searcy and Morrilton. Forecasters expect roughly 1-3 inches of snow in this area. It's also possible for some ice accumulation.

A second Winter Weather Advisory begins at 6 p.m. tonight for the Little Rock metro area, Cabot, Pine Bluff, Arkadelphia and other towns. That advisory expires at midnight.

Travel could be a problem in parts of the area Sunday into Monday morning.

Snowfall is expected to end by late Sunday evening.
