Way Back Wednesday: Danny Koker

Matt Mosler has the latest in Arkansas history with his Way Back Wednesday report.
LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Recently the Danny Koker better known as "The Count" from History Channel's Counting Cars, was asked to officiate the wedding of Rick Harrison the star of another History Channel show, "Pawn Stars." They are two of the biggest shows on cable.  Did you know the Count was an ordained minister?  And did you know he has an Arkansas connection?  What is it and who is his famous uncle?
Answer:
Before he became the tattooed, muscle car building host of Counting Cars, Danny Koker, traveled the country singing with his family as part of the Rex Humbard singers.  That's right, the count's uncle is televangelist and singer Rex Humbard- you folks over the age of 40 may remember Rex Humbard.  Humbard was born and raised in Little Rock and was the first evangelist to have a weekly nationwide television program in the United States.  The show ran from 1952 to 1983 and was watched my millions.  But Humbard also traveled the world preaching and singing and one of those singers, who was also a pretty good songwriter, was Humbard's nephew, Danny Koker- who traded his leisure suit and tie for tattoos and a bandana and is now doing pretty well in Vegas.
