Lottie Shackelford and Jimmie Lou Fisher were honored at Cajun's Wharf in Little Rock.

LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Two champions for women in Arkansas honored tonight for their fight for issues important to Arkansas women and families.

Arkansas politicians gathered at Cajun's Wharf tonight to honor Jimmie Lou Fischer and Lottie Shackelford, two people called trailblazers for women in Arkansas.

The night included remarks from First Lady Ginger Beebe, Mark Pryor, and Mike Ross.

"You have cleared a path for many of our Arkansas women to follow. We honor you tonight and we hope that your examples will encourage others to continue the work that you have both championed," said Ginger Beebe.

Jimmie Lou Fisher was the second woman elected to a statewide constitutional office in Arkansas and served as state treasurer for 22 years and Lottie Shackelford was the first woman elected mayor of Little Rock.
