ASP Investigates Mayflower Police Officer Over Gas Theft

The officer allegedly used gas for personal use and falsified documents.
MAYFLOWER, AR- A Mayflower Police Officer is under investigation for allegedly stealing gas and altering records to cover it up.

The officer was place on paid administrative leave Thursday.

Both the Mayflower Police Chief and Mayor say the officer allegedly used gas for personal use and falsified documents.

Faulkner County's Prosecuting Attorney says there's enough evidence to be concerned about.

"Anytime a police officer is involved, it's something that we take seriously. Everybody is entitled to due process but at the same time we have to do our due diligence and making sure the public trust is upheld," says Cody Hiland, Faulkner County Prosecuting Attorney.

Arkansas State Police is now investigating the alleged crimes.
