55 Heifer Farmers Killed In Nepal Flooding; Survivors Lack Food & Water

Heifer says more than a hundred people are missing and more than 1,000 livestock are dead.
NEPAL- Severe flooding this past week is impacting four Heifer International projects in Nepal and one in India.

Arkansas Based Heifer International reports Sunday, 55 project beneficiaries have been killed and more than a hundred are still missing.

Heifer says survivors are now suffering from illnesses associated with polluted water, and are seeing a lack of food and water.

So far, about 380 goats, 194 cows/buffalo, 19 pigs and 887 chickens were known to have died in the floods, and the number is still expected to increase, says Dilip Bhandari, program manager for Heifer's Asia team.
