Super Bowl With A Chance Of Snow; Arkansans Prepare For Eventful Weekend

Arkansans gear up for a big weekend of football and a good chance of sleet and snow.
LITTLE ROCK, AR -- More than 700 dump trucks around the Natural State will be on standby all weekend.

On Friday, Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department Crews were ahead of schedule making salt brine. They're prepared to spray it on major bridges and highways right before the wintry weather mix hits the state. The pretreating process would help alleviate some of the slick roads we are expecting to see.

While crews are keeping a close eye on the weather and roadways, one grocery store that's already experienced the mad rush during previous winter weather events, are already ahead of the game.

"They're pretty good about gearing up for the holidays, especially super bowl because it's the biggest chip dip holiday," said Ron Willett, Food Giant Manager.

Whether you're shopping for the Super Bowl or winter weather, one Little Rock grocery store has no plans of running short.

"My milk truck was here this morning and I got another delivery coming Sunday afternoon," Willett said.

Food Giant's Ron Willett said he prepared for the eventful weekend, making sure there's more than enough. Workers continued to restock the shelves with milk, bread and eggs throughout the day, along with all the Super Bowl snacks.

"Frito lay was even in here today building their display and also filling the shelf," Willett said.

Shoppers we talked to seemed to be going all out for the big game.

"I'm gonna go get me some chicken, some hamburgers and steak," said Larry Smith, shopper. "I'm gonna put them on the grill, cook them right along with some vegetables."

No doubt, the perfect pairing to a good football game, but Willett knows Arkansans will get creative in the kitchen.

"This weather, the way it's turning colder this Sunday, is going to make a big difference on what people purchase for the holiday," Willett said.
