Storm Damage in Chaffee Crossing

Strong winds demolished four buildings and damaged roofs and siding on nearly 30 others.
FORT SMITH, AR - Wednesday's storms left a trail of damage but the River Valley, especially Chaffee Crossing was hit hard.

That area is dedicated to growth and redevelopment.

Strong winds demolished four buildings and damaged roofs and siding on nearly 30 others.

"We are just very fortunate not to have and injuries because we had people out here working when it hit yesterday. People inside buildings that collapsed, so yeah, we are very lucky that nobody was injured," says Ivy Owens.

Owens says Chaffee's historic district took a substantial hit as well.

Several people are being temporarily relocated. Clean up is expected to take at least six to eight weeks.
