Update: No Charges for Pine Bluff Police Woman in Shooting at Her Home

The Jefferson County Prosecutor's Office rules it was a case of self defense.
Update (Sept. 22):
PINE BLUFF, AR - A shooting at the home of a Pine Bluff police woman has been ruled self defense.

The Jefferson County Prosecutor's Office says there will be no charges filed in the case.

It was last month that the Arkansas State Police (ASP) identified Denise Richardson as the officer and said she shot a man at her home around 2 a.m. the morning of Aug. 15. during a struggle.

The wounded man was identified as Percy Smith, 44.

PINE BLUFF, AR - A city police officer has been involved in a shooting incident.

The Arkansas State Police identifies the officer as Denise Richardson and says she shot a man at her home around 2 a.m. Friday during a struggle.

The man who was wounded is identified as Percy Smith, 44. The ASP says Smith left the scene and drove himself to Jefferson Regional Medical Center for treatment, where he remains hospitalized. 

There's no further word on the circumstances of the shooting. Prosecuting Attorney Kyle Hunter made the request for the ASP to investigate the incident.

According to the Pine Bluff Police Department website, Richardson is a lieutenant and night shift supervisor.
