Slick Roads in South, East Arkansas

Winter weather creates travel hazards.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - Slick roads are reported in parts of south and east Arkansas as a winter storm moves across those areas of the state.

As of 11 a.m., the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department's road conditions map was reporting the following:
  • In east Arkansas, Ice, ice patches and snow reported on roads around Brinkley and Forrest City
  • In south Arkansas, ice, reported on roads around Camden, El Dorado, Monticello and McGehee. 
  • Snow reported south of Texarkana to the state line.
  • Sleet reported on roads south and west of Pine Bluff
Eastern Arkansas is included in a Winter Weather Advisory in place until 6 tonight and south Arkansas was under a Winter Storm Warning issued late this morning and in effect until noon.

Our content partner, MonticelloLive.com reported this morning that an 18 wheeler had jackknifed (see photo) on an icy Highway 425 south near Beulah Rd. around 7 a.m. and caused 4 other 18 wheelers to block the highway. At that time, the area was totally blocked and impassable.

MonticelloLive also reported that any travel throughout Monticello was slick, icy, and hazardous.

Drew County authorities recommended staying off of the roadways and Monticello and Drew Central schools were closed.
