Sales Tax Passes in Searcy

The money will be used to hire police officers, code enforcement officers and street and public workers.
SEARCY, AR -- Voters approved an additional 1 percent sales tax for the next eight years Tuesday night.

The money will be used to hire police officers, code enforcement officers and street and public workers. 

The city plans to build a swimming pool and replace five police cars annually, and buy new sanitation trucks among other things.

The proposed tax would generate a projected $6.4 million annually.
