Pulaski Technical College Seeks Millage Increase for Growth Plans

School administrators say one thing the money would pay for would be replacement of outdated equipment.
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR - A local college that's seeing a big boost in enrollment is turning to the city for help.

The president of Pulaski Technical College (PTC) told the North Little Rock City Council Monday night that a proposed millage increase would average about 38-dollars per 100-thousand dollar home.

School administrators say right now they want to increase enrollment, but PTC needs to build upon its infrastructure to do so.

Dr. Margaret Ellibee adds that the college needs to meet the needs of the workforce.

"We are getting numerous demands for our business and industry, manufacturing in particular, for qualified employees. With the facility we have now and outdated equipment, we can not meet that demand," Dr. Ellibee says.

The PTC president says the election only affects those in Pulaski County and will generate about 11-million dollars a year.
