Pryor Responds to Cotton's Comment Questioning His Faith

Mark Pryor is responding to opponent Tom Cotton's comment “Mark Pryor think(s) that faith is something that only happens at 11 o’clock on Sunday mornings.”
FAYETTEVILLE, AR (KNWA)- Mark Pryor is responding to opponent Tom Cotton's comment “Mark Pryor think(s) that faith is something that only happens at 11 o’clock on Sunday mornings.”

The republican candidate for Senate made the remark in an interview with KNWA's J.R. Davis on Tuesday (video attached) and now Pryor is asking for personal apology from Cotton.

Pryor weighs in, campaign calls for Cotton to personally apologize.

“I’m disappointed in Congressman Cotton’s deeply personal attack on me,” Pryor said Wednesday. “He and I may disagree on issues, but for him to question my faith is out of bounds. From a young age I have never shied away from talking about the importance of God in my life, and it’s my Christian faith that gives me comfort and guidance to be a steady voice for Arkansas in the Senate.”

Cotton was discussing the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision this week in Burwell vs. Hobby Lobby in Monday's interview.

Pryor’s campaign has called on Cotton to "immediately and personally apologize for the comments."

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee issued the following statement in response to Sen. Mark Pryor's campaign calling attention to comments about Sen. Pryor's faith:

"I do appreciate Mark Pryor as a fellow believer and don't question the authenticity of his faith, but that doesn't mean I could support him politically because his vote and support for Obamacare and its tragic consequences for unborn children, and the overreach of government is hurtful to the economy and to the kind of real health care reform we need. I strongly support Tom Cotton because he will help end Harry Reid's 'reign of error' and sadly, Mark has joined with Harry Reid and President Obama to gridlock any real opportunity to solve problems."
