CABOT, AR - Police are investigating the death of a man who went to another man's home armed with a metal pipe, allegedly started a fight, and ended up getting beaten with a baseball bat.

It happened around 1:45 Monday morning at the home of Carl Hambrick on Carol Cove.

Cabot Police say Hambrick, 51, suffered severe injuries when he defended himself against Steven Michael McCraw, 24. McCraw died after being taken to the hospital.

For now, police are calling this a death investigation, not a homicide, but they're not yet ruling anything out.

According to the police report, Hambrick had opened the door to McCraw, whom he had worked with until McCraw was fired recently.

Police say when McCraw started hitting Hambrick with the pipe, Hambrick ran to his laundry room where he kept a bat, and struck back at McCraw.

Hambrick told police he had argued over the phone with McCraw before the man came to his home.
