Pedestrian Safety Awareness Month Continues in Downtown LR

Pedestrian safety in Downtown Little Rock needs the efforts of both AHTD and the city. You can join the awareness on April 14th for an event that highlights pedestrian safety at dangerous downtown intersections.
LITTLE ROCK, AR -- On Monday, April 14, the second of four special events during Pedestrian Safety Awareness month (April) will be held highlight pedestrian safety at dangerous downtown intersections. 

Monday’s participants will address the concerns at the intersection of 6th and Broadway. 

Broadway is maintained by both the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department and the City of Little Rock. 

Stan Dimitrov, chair of the Downtown Little Rock Partnership’s Pedestrian Safety Committee, will share proposals the committee has made and some of the responses to those requests. 

Nat Banihatti, Traffic Systems Manager for the City of Little Rock, will discuss how the City is responding to 6th & Broadway as well as other intersections downtown to make them safer.

Jessie Jones, Division Engineer of Transportation, Planning and Policy for Arkansas State Highway & Transportation will share what actions the state agency will be considering for bicycle and pedestrian safety throughout Little Rock following a recent questionnaire to the public seeking suggestions. 

Witnesses and victims to accidents at this intersection will also be present as well as Entergy employees who lost a colleague from an accident nearby in 2011.
