LITTLE ROCK, AR -- CHI St. Vincent Hospital announced on Thursday that 157 positions will be cut system wide.
The cutbacks come as the system integrates a new facility in Hot Springs.
The company says the job reductions will include 91 layoffs.
The remainder of the cuts will be a result of leaving vacant jobs unfilled.
According to our content partner Hot Springs Daily, 74 people in Hot Springs will lose their jobs -- followed by 14 in Little Rock and three in Morrilton.
CHI St. Vincent President and CEO Peter Banko says it was "a very difficult day for our ministry" but that the reductions were needed as the operations were merged.
Previously known as St. Vincent Health system, CHI. St. Vincent changed its name earlier this month to reflect its sponsorship from Catholic Health Initiatives.
