Money Matters: Where Your Tornado Donation is Going

A simple answer of the phone helps disaster relief agencies like the Salvation Army and Red Cross

LITTLE ROCK, AR - A simple answer of the phone helps disaster relief agencies like the Salvation Army and Red Cross.

"With the cash donations that have come in, the Salvation Army is part of what is called a Marc Center, which is a multi-agency relief center. We are one of 9 agencies and the Salvation Army is passing out financial assistance to those who have been impacted by this tornado," says Major Roger Glick.

The Salvation Army is giving that financial assistance in the form of Visa gift cards, which are all funded by your donations.

Just like the Salvation Army, the Red Cross has also been receiving thousands of dollars worth of donations.

"We have 24 mobile trucks that are out and about, half of them are providing bulk supplies whether it is clean-up kits or comfort kits. It changes as the needs of those out there are changing," explains Brigette Williams with the Red Cross.

Both relief services also have mobile feeding units in the disaster areas.

Those trucks that feed thousands are funded by your cash.

But all the agencies have one goal in mind, which is helping the tornado victims.

"So essentially, these families come to the multi-resource center in Conway and they can see many of the agencies," says Glick.

At the Marc Center, those families can find your donations.
