LITTLE ROCK, AR - USA Water Ski and the American Water Ski Association are pleased to announce the 14th annual Junior U.S. Open Water Ski Championships will be held June 7-8, 2014, at Bullneck Lake in Scott, Ark.
The two-round, world-record capability event will feature Men and Women (ages 17 to 21) and Boys and Girls divisions (ages 16 and under). Some of the world's top junior water ski athletes are expected to compete for titles in slalom, tricks, jumping and overall.
"The Bullneck site is a great selection for the Junior U.S. Open," said Bob Mayhew, president of the American Water Ski Association. "It offers great skiing conditions and strong technological support, and the tournament will have excellent officials drawn from all over the country."
The Bullneck Lake Ski Club annually hosts world record-capability three-event water ski tournaments and has previously hosted the Arkansas State Water Ski Championships. This will be the first time that the Junior U.S. Open Water Ski Championships will be held in Arkansas. It has previously been held in Ohio, Illinois, Kansas, Texas, Florida and Louisiana.
"We are excited to be hosting the 2014 Junior U.S. Open Water Ski Championships in Arkansas for the first time," said Scott Greenwood, president of the Bullneck Lake Ski Club. "This is one event the top skiers from around the world and the general public will not want to miss."
