Lotto Ticket Sales Decline Leaving Millions Less for Scholarships

Commissioners met Tuesday afternoon to talk about the decline in revenue.
LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Arkansas students could be getting fewer dollars in lottery scholarships because of slumping ticket sales.

Commissioners met Wednesday afternoon to talk about the decline in revenue.

The agency says they have nearly $7 million less in scholarship funding than they did last year.

Commissioners tell us their goal is to find ways to increase sales and trim expenses to get more money.

Folks looking to further their education say  they need the money.

"I'm trying to get in school myself, so I mean I'm looking forward to it helping me also," aspiring student Nick Ferrell said.

The amount each student will receive is decided by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education.
