Lime Shortage Hits Little Rock Restaurants

Reports show the bad weather in Mexico is to blame for the spike for the fruit.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - Mexican restaurant owners are paying a hefty price to have a lime for your favorite dish and drink.

Reports show the bad weather in Mexico is to blame for the spike for the fruit.

Nearly 90 percent of limes come from Mexico. Here at Fonda Mexican Cuisine on Bowman Road the manager tells us limes have gone from $40 a case to $110 a case!

Fortunately customers won't notice it in their food, drink or wallet.

Right now we swallow the cost, just make it happen because we can't really compromise quality for our products," says Manager Alejandro Lopez Monroy.

Some stores are ordering fewer limes so they won't have to pass on the cost to consumers.
